Hierarchy Video
Hierarchy Video
From what I gathered.. it is important for design purposes to use different values like contrast, scale and color to create a Hierarchy, information that is most important to least important, for the consumer. A good composition is easily read and understood. You want the readers eyes to travel along the page and understand the message that the producer is trying to convey.
There are many variables to adjust to create an visually exciting typographic design, text type, typographic color, fonts and stroke widths. I learned that letting or spacing of letters is important not to create widows and orphans.

Jim Krause Video
What i learned from that video was observing my environment and relating what colors I saw to the color wheel and color theory.
He mentioned a few times using a triadic color scheme for design purposes. Then altering those color, through saturation and value.

Marian Bantjes Video
Marian Bantjes, My thoughts
I didnt really receive any new information, or
get any thought provoking information i could apply to myself. I thought her
work is great and the way she achieved her career was a different road than the
typical client-based work most design artists find. I did learn that no matter
how great you are at your craft in the design world, networking is the most
important aspect of it all. Marian did all her art isolated in her nifty cabin
in the woods but didnt receive any renown or recognition till she reached out
and networked. Im in trouble then lol.

Jessica Hische summary
Jessica Hische: the Creative Spark
Letterin and Type is about attention to detail. Paying attention
and being open to learning new ideas and nuisances. Being an artist takes
constant daily dedication for years. You have to love and be passionate about
something and then expanding and including others for you own accountability
and to challenge yourself constantly. Experimenting and pushing yourself. Its
more than just doing client work but work for yourself. Make your career a
statement about yourself and your work.

sean adams: Insights on Graphic Design
research AIGA-Adams Morioka Archives
Design today, through advancements in technology, has
expanded to multiple platforms. A designer has to know more than just print
media, to be competitive in the field and to make a career. Design has moved
from print media to everything technological, social media, websites and
interactive motion. I also enjoy print
media, specifically books and illustrations in older books. Downside to access
to tech tools, projects are rushed and the message of the design can be
blurred. A project can be finished in a shorter period of time, however a
better product comes through have proper inspiration and that takes time.
Upside to tech tools of today is the access and large amount of utilities
available for designers.
What is Design to me? Its problem solving, taking a clients
vision and translating it onto a media format. Its taking a problem and finding
creative unique solutions through inspiration.
Design have flexible paths of education to a career;
traditional like art education and non-traditional like internet based
websites. Design history is essential to be a well rounded designer.
A good portfolio is simple and clear cut exemplifying your
skills and experience. Typography is definitely a necessary skill. Getting
started in the design field is all about networking. (which im horrible at.

Margo Chase Summary
What I derived from Margo Chase: Creative Inspirations video
Margo Chase is a graphic designer that grew from one genre of design work and
expanded her design firm (Chase Design Group) through dedication and networking. Utilize a work space creatively for open flow of
communication is great for collaboration. Even though the internet is a great resource for references,
books are still very important source of inspiration: some of which doesn't exist on the web.
Margo chase started her career in the music industry
creating album/cd covers, eventually networking within the industry to achieve
more work, however it limited her business growth. A big part of design is lettering/typography, which can be
done early in a free lance career. Before advancement in computer technologies graphic design
was created by hand. A well versed designer should have hand and computer
skills. A designer should have a strong sense of self as a designer
then eventually incorporate outside influences and other skills Designer should be careful not to design for oneself but to
design for the consumer through Branding. Having a definite profile of what the
consumer is envisioning leads to greater design that is special for that
consumer. Great design comes from being given a problem and creating
creative solutions within certain restrictions, either from the consumer or the
actual physical medium like packaging to achieve the final solution.
